Easy Homemade Ketchup

Today I'm sharing my recipe for homemade vegan ketchup. Even though one can find ketchup at every grocery store, I prefer to make my own for two reasons. First, not all ketchup brands are vegan. Second, commercially made ketchup usually contains lots of sugar. I prefer ketchup that contains an amount of natural sweetener that I can control.
This whole foods plant based (WFPB) recipe is compatible with the requirements of a high carb low fat (HCLV) vegan diet as recommended by Dr. Michael Greger of nutritionfacts.org. This ketchup is oil free, salt free and refined sugar free. This portion is enough for two people. Leftover ketchup can be stored in the fridge for up to one week.
// VEGAN KETCHUP //
Ingredients:
(these are just rough measurements)
●1/3 cup tomato paste
● 4 tbsp water
● 1tbsp maple syrup
● 1/2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
● a few splashes of lemon juice
● a pinch of black pepper
Method:
Fill the tomato paste and the water into a bowl and mix thoroughly. Add the other ingredients, mix until everything is incorporated. Enjoy!
