Air Fryer Tofu

JOIN MY YOUTUBE COMMUNITY ► https://goo.gl/KjZ5cm 🎬 Hi friends! In this episode of Bianca's Kitchen, I'm sharing my recipe for delicious vegan air fryer tofu! This meatless meal is high in protein and at the same time lower in cholesterol. This meat substitute is a beginner friendly recipe and ideal if you want to try e.g. Meatless Monday. It's also a great start if you're new to vegan food and looking for a low key dish. If you wish, make this dish oil free by using the vegan egg replacer aquafaba instead of oil! Tofu can be stored for a long time which makes it an ideal food to stock your vegan fridge. It also can be used for many other dishes that imitate meat, for example vegan egg salad or vegan fish. This recipe uses extra firm tofu which can be found at many health food stores or purchased online for delivery and pick up, e.g.: ● https://bit.ly/39C8OWphttps://bit.ly/2P6nZNV The air fryer shown in the video is a Philips Starfish HD9220/28 (https://amzn.to/2ZBwZky). We use it several times a week and highly recommend it!
// VEGAN AIR FRYER TOFU // Ingredients: (these are just rough measurements) ● about 7 oz. (200g) extra firm tofu ● 1 tbsp canola or sunflower seed oil (high oleic) ● 1 tbsp maple syrup ● 1 tbsp liquid aminos or soy sauce ● a few drops liquid smoke ● a pinch of garlic powder ● a few splashes of lemon juice Alternatively replace the oil with aquafaba for an oil free version, although the result is not quite as good as the oil marinade (juice from canned or homecooked chickpeas, check out my tutorial here: https://youtu.be/JFadDXvqxKs) Method: Place the tofu in its packaging in the freezer. Once it's completely frozen, take it out. Let the tofu thaw, without opening the packaging. When it's completely thawed, place it back in the freezer. Once it's completely frozen, take it out again to let it thaw. Open the package and take out the completely thawed tofu. Now press the tofu. If you don't have a tofu press, place it between two wooden cutting boards and put something heavy on top. Press the tofu for at least 1 hour. Then dab it dry, using a kitchen towel or kitchen tissue. Now marinate the tofu. Mix together the aforementioned ingredients and use a silicon brush to apply the marinate, making sure every part of the tofu is covered. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour. Use kitchen tissue to absorb excess marinate so no oil can drip down in the air fryer (that's unhealthy). I air fry the tofu on fries in the same basket. If you make only the tofu use a cooking spray so it doesn't stick to the basket. Air fry the tofu at 355F/180C for 18 minutes (time might differ a bit for other air fryer brands).
