🍊 ORANGE PEEL SMOOTHIE 💚 Plant Based Vegan Recipe

A couple of years ago I started using organic orange peel in my smoothies and I absolutely love the taste. Orange peel is edible and a source of vitamin C, fibre and antioxidants (polyphenols). I like to add flaxseed to my smoothies as a source of omega-3 fatty acids.

Since I only buy organic produce, I also use the peel of the apple and carrot in this smoothie recipe. My orange peel smoothie has a refreshing citrusy taste and provides lots of nutrients. In order to make this plant based vegan recipe, you need a high speed blender. Mine is an Omniblend, a great alternative to Vitamix.

This delicious smoothie is easy to make and compatible with a high carb low fat (HCLF) vegan diet, also known as Whole Foods Plant Based (WFPB), as suggested by T. Colin Campbell's "The China Study" and Dr. Michael Greger's Nutritionfacts.org. It is great for plant based athletes. Enjoy it for breakfast or lunch! Smoothies are a great way to incorporate raw vegan foods into your diet.

// ORANGE PEEL SMOOTHIE // ● 6.5 CUPS FRUIT TEA ● 2 ORGANIC ORANGES ● 1 ORGANIC APPLE ● 1 LARGE ORGANIC CARROT ● 1 CUP RAISINS ● ½ TABLESPOON FLAXSEED Method: Brew the 6.5 cups of fruit tea according to package instructions. After removing the tea bags or straining the tea, add the raisins (in order to soften them) and let the tea cool down for two hours. Let the oranges, the apple and the carrot soak in fruit wash for 10 minutes (I make my own fruit wash using 6 cups of warm water and 1 cup of vinegar). Wash the produce with a sponge and dry it. Remove only the green and white part of the orange, possible dark spots on the carrot and the apple seeds. Cut everything into pieces. Fill the tea and raisins, the flaxseed and the produce into a high speed blender. Blend for 3 minutes on highest speed. Keep leftover smoothie in the fridge for up to three days.
